What Is Slipstreaming?

Slipstreaming is a driving tactic in which a driver catches the car ahead and tucks in behind its rear section to benefit from a reduction in drag over the body of the following car. The goal is to achieve a superior maximum speed and slingshot past before the next corner.

In the modern era of Formula 1, slipstreaming is difficult to execute because of the significant loss of front downforce and the difficulty of controlling the car in the disturbed air behind another vehicle.
